Mosaic

The Diva's Weekly Challenge #376: String Theory and maybe a mosaic

The string on these tiles are just 2 curved lines but they pack a punch of pizzazz when placed as a mosaic.

Dewd

The Diva's  Weekly Challenge #372 "DEWD"

Dewd as a border on a tan Zendala tile. For a bit of glamour I added touches of gold with a Gelly Roll pen.

Mandala

I just enjoyed 2 great days with Karen. The Creative Miss L, it was our annual catch up, chatting, drinking tea and tangling together. We started in the centre of our Opus tiles with an emerald which is her birthstone. The border came out completely different than we expected but isn't that the beauty of Zentangle, go with the flow and be surprised when it's finished?

Journal Cover

Let's start from the very beginning!!

Yes, I have decided to go back to the start and work through Primer Vol. 1. I'm looking forward to calmly and mindfully re-connecting to the basic principles of Zentangle.

Mandala

I remember my Mum saying "Blue and green should never be seen unless there's another colour in between'.

So I popped in some orange!

Actually I love blue and green together!

Update: I just looked up birthstones for August and to my surprise it's Peridot, therefore that little green gem sits happily in the centre.
Happy Birthday to everyone born in August!!

Watercolour Pencils

It's wintery and raining here in Tassie, I have battened down the hatches, the fire is creating a warm cosy glow. It's a perfect day for playing with my pens, watercolour pencils and a white Opus tile.

Inspired by Ancient Egypt

She holds the secrets of ancient times, of gold, buried gems and treasures hidden deep in the ruins of King Ramses tomb.

Renaissance Opus Tile
Last month Paul and I travelled to Egypt for an exciting adventure. We explored the Pyramids of Giza, rode camels, visited the Valley of the Kings, swam in the River Nile and the Red Sea. We felt safe even slept on a Felucca and wandered exotic markets. Egypt's tourism is down so tours are cheap, the hotels are good and the food fabulous. Go if you can!!

Duotangle Shattuck vs Tripoli

The Diva's
Weekly Challenge #360 "Duotangle Shattuck vs Tripoli"

Why does time fly so fast as we get older? Now that Paul has retired from his engineering business our life has slowed down but our days are full and they seem to zoom by so quickly. It's certainly lovely to pop out for coffee or lunch and not be in a rush. I have still been tangling but just not spending hours on my computer so I've been very lackadaisical about blogging....sorry, I hope you don't think that I have disappeared and forgotten you all, I have just been watching and admiring from a distance.

Pre-strung tan tile with Shattuck and Tripoli

Over the last 2 months I have had some wonderful tangling time especially on Maria Island at our Yoga and Zentangle Retreat.  I had a lovely surprise and treat meeting fellow CZTs Beverley Exell and Jennifer Dawes-Robinson. Looking through their Zentangle journals was super inspiring.
Check out some great photos taken by Karin here on her blog The Crooked Dog
Karin's tangling is amazing, you will enjoy seeing her art.

Our last mosaic of the weekend

Here is something else I've been tangling....it's quite large 42cm x 59cm. It's actually hanging in The Eskleigh Gallery in Perth (Tasmania) for the next month.

Push Squeeze Pull Squash

Our annual 3 weeks at sunny Bridport have passed in a flash! Heidi and Samuel, our grandchildren joined us for the 1st week.
Heidi and I were pushed to the limits learning Stand Up Paddle Board Yoga.
Samuel and I squeezed in many card games before bed.
Paul and Heidi pulled in just enough fish for our lunches.
I squashed lots of sand between my toes while reading on the beach.
Okay... how do I draw all that onto an Opus tile?

Well actually I didn't but I remembered that I really enjoyed tangling Jenna Black's zenjellies and Sarah Fowler's strutz for the cover of Linda's 2018 Tangle Patterns Guide so I pushed, squeezed, pulled and squashed with just the two tangles.

Yoga with Zentangle Retreat

Back to Nature!
These weekends are super fun, relaxing and nourishing with Suzie's amazing organic meals. We sleep in the penitentiary, eat in the communal hall with yoga sessions in the old chapel.....it really is a special time.
If you are new to yoga or Zentangle, that's fine, no experience is necessary.
Early March will be a spectacular time on Maria Island.
